DC recently opened yesterday a new facility in Meribel, France : the Area 43. Fluofun was there for the opening and we got the chance to see the 2013 DC Snowboards line ! So for next season we will have a new board, the Mega (a stiffer PLY) and the return of the classics : MLF, PLY, Tone, PBJ... a total of 9 boards for mens and two for womens (Women's PLY and Biddy). Here are the pictures !
DC Snowboards 2013.
In 2013, the new big thing for DC is the Mega. If you have ever ridden a PLY, you might have miss a bit of support at really high speed... The Mega is based on the same shape, but it's stiffer. It will be available in 147.25, in 150.5, in 153.75 (Torstein Horgmo model), in 156.5 (Aaron Biittner model) and 159.25. As for the tech inside, it's full of complicated stuff such as the "fresh deck" topsheet, the "lock & load" camber, the structured sintered base 7200 etc... I tried it and compared it to my 2012 PLY,and it's true that this new board is much more beefy than the PLY ! Those who like to go fast and ride big kickers (I do) will be happy with the Mega.
The PLY 2013 is quite the same as the 2012's model, but the graphics are a bit more aggresive, in a good way. Apart the Torstein always disco-inspired, the taller you go, the tougher you get. But our favourite graphics award would go to the PBJ 2013 for its sheepanzee (mix of sheep and chimpanzee), it's catopotamus (mix of cat and hippopotamus)and all the others weird creatures...
If you're looking for a traditionnal camber board, you should look at the MLF which is available in 150, 154 and 158 or at the stiffer MLF Iikka Pro version - 154 and 158 - with some nice mexicans donkeys. The Devun Pro and the Lauri Pro inaugurate the "Micro camber", a traditional but very shallow camber. Finally the Tone (the all around board by DC) and the Focus (affordable, freestyle and polyvalent board) complete the range with more affordable models.
The girls got two models : the Women's Biddy and it's nice graphics (yes, we like dolphin-cowboys and cheetah-pilots) and the Women's PLY, for girls who kick some dudes' ass.
